This Seder is Different from All Other Seders – Two Guides

This Seder is Different from All Other Seders – Two Guides

This year, we’ve been thinking a lot about what our Passover Seders will be like. We’re offering two guides that treat the current situation as a teachable moment.

The Four Hopeful Questions

In our first guide, we’ve written 4 new questions that we hope will bring some light and hope into your holiday activities. As part of Hatikvah, the Israeli National Anthem, we sing “to be a people, free in our land” – להיות עם חפשי בארצינו . This Passover we are asking, “how is your understanding of Safety, Jewish Peoplehood, Freedom, and Land different this night from all other seder nights you had before the Days of Corona?” Check out the “4 Hopeful Questions” guide for some additional questions and ideas about these four themes.

Focus on Freedom
Our second guide focuses on Passover as the holiday of freedom. This year, when most of us are not feeling too free, we are sharing three texts with three different perspectives on freedom, to try and help us make sense of what freedom could mean, as we “shelter in place.”

As we all try to make sense of what Passover looks like in the shadow of COVID-19, we hope these guides give you some new ways of talking about some of the core themes of the holiday.
