Talking Israel is a series of video conversations between R. Marcelo Bronstein of Bnai Jeshurun in New York, and an Israeli personality who both embodies and engages in Israel’s vibrant complexity.
Mahatma Gandhi once said: “I do not want my house to be walled in on all sides and my windows to be stuffed. I want the culture of all lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible. But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.”
We wanted to talk with Israelis whose windows are open, but who are not blown off their feet…
Equally profoundly, the Rav Kook taught about “אחדות ההפכים” – the unification of opposites, as a paradoxical route to a higher understanding of peace.
We wanted to dialogue with Israelis who live and work with opposites…
This is a project initiated by BJ and run with Makom, that combines video dialogue followed by study in New York with a group of invited guests.
