Palestinians and the UN

The UN will shortly address the issue of a Palestinian State along 1967 borders.
Questions abound in the media, asked with excitement or trepidation or both. Will the State be recognized? If the State is established, what difference will it make and to whom? If it does make a difference, who will this please and who will this injure? And if it makes no difference, who will this injure and who will this please?
Similar excitement or trepidation accompanies the many varied answers to these questions.
Beyond our local issues, the future of the US economy, the travails of the Eurozone, and the uncertain harvest of the Arab Spring also raise unfathomable and destabilizing questions.
As we approach the Days of Awe, Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, when we resign ourselves to and celebrate our dependence on the heavens, even the most experienced pundits admit they know nothing for certain.
We can but pray for more justice and less suffering in the New Year to come.
